MONDAY, JUNE 25: Practice Round 1
WITHDRAWAL – John Daly, Dardanelle, Ark.
JOHN DALY has withdrawn from the 2018 U.S. Senior Open Championship on Monday, June 25 because of a knee injury.
Daly, who was fully exempt and was expected to play in his second U.S. Senior Open, will be replaced in the field by David McKenzie, a 50-year-old professional from Australia, the first alternate from the South Bend, Ind., sectional qualifying site.
Daly, 52, won the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 Open Championship at St. Andrews in a playoff with Constantino Rocca. In 2017, he captured the PGA Tour Champions’ Insperity Invitational.
McKenzie shot 71 at The Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame, the site of the 2019 U.S. Senior Open, on June 4. He is playing in his first U.S. Senior Open. He has competed in 10 PGA Tour Champions tournaments this season, with his best finish a tie for third at the Rapiscan Systems Classic. McKenzie has also played in 42 PGA European Tour events during his career.

WITHDRAWAL – Peter Jacobsen, Bonita Springs, Fla.
PETER JACOBSEN has withdrawn from the 2018 U.S. Senior Open Championship on Wednesday, June 27 because of personal reasons.
Jacobsen, who was fully exempt and won the 2004 U.S. Senior Open Championship at Bellerive Country Club, will be replaced in the field by Tim Hume, a professional from Crystal River, Fla., the first alternate from the Ocala, Fla., sectional qualifying site.
Jacobsen, who owns seven PGA Tour victories and two PGA Tour Champions wins, was expected to compete in his 14th U.S. Senior Open.
Hume, a 55-year-old, shot 71 at Country Club at Ocala on May 31. He is playing in his first U.S. Senior Open. Hume has competed in primarily local and state tournaments, including the Florida Senior Open.

WITHDRAWAL – Tommy Armour III, Las Vegas, Nev.
TOMMY ARMOUR III has withdrawn from the 2018 U.S. Senior Open Championship on Thursday, June 28 because of an altitude-related illness.
Armour, who was playing in his seventh U.S. Senior Open, started on the 10th hole at 7:31 a.m. and was grouped with Billy Mayfair and Tim Hume. He played nine holes before withdrawing.
Armour, 58, the grandson of World Golf Hall of Famer Tommy Armour, who won the 1927 U.S. Open, recorded two victories on the PGA Tour, including the 2003 Valero Texas Open when he set, at the time, the 72-hole scoring record of 254 (26-under par).

USGA Celebrates Success of 39th U.S. Senior Open at The Broadmoor with Announcement to Return in 2025
Historic venue to host third U.S. Senior Open and ninth USGA championship
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 1, 2018) - At the closing trophy ceremony of the 39th U.S. Senior Open – held during The Broadmoor’s centennial celebration – the USGA announced that it will return to The Broadmoor Golf Club, in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2025 for the U.S. Senior Open Championship. This will be the third U.S. Senior Open and the ninth USGA championship contested at The Broadmoor.
“Beginning with the U.S. Amateur in 1959, The Broadmoor has been a gracious and wonderful host and a valued partner to the USGA, helping us to showcase the world’s greatest players on the game’s grandest stages,” said Mike Davis, CEO of the USGA. “This has been a tremendous week of golf and a great celebration of the game, and we are excited to bring the championship back to Colorado Springs in 2025.”
Donald Ross designed The Broadmoor’s East Course, which opened for play in 1918 and is now a combination of holes from Ross’ original layout and holes designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1952. The course sits on the southern edge of the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of more than 6,300 feet.
“The Broadmoor is thrilled to have the opportunity to host its ninth USGA championship, the U.S. Senior Open in 2025,” said Jack Damioli – President/CEO of The Broadmoor. “This opportunity would not be possible without the support and partnership of the city of Colorado Springs, El Paso County and the state of Colorado. Colorado has a storied history of hosting golf’s biggest events, and we are privileged to once again stage a national championship.”
The U.S. Senior Open will be the 34th USGA championship held in Colorado. Prior to the 2018 U.S. Senior Open, the USGA last conducted a championship in the Centennial State in 2012, when Cherry Hills Country Club hosted the 112th U.S. Amateur. In 2019, Colorado Golf Club in Parker will host the 39th U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship from Sept. 14-19.
