LIBERTY CORNER, N.J. (June 11, 2018) - The USGA today announced the pairings for the USGA Celebration of Champions, a four-hole golf exhibition honoring the winners of 2017 USGA championships. The exhibition will pair 2017 USGA champions in two-player teams, and will be held tomorrow at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y.
FS1 will broadcast the foursomes (alternate-shot) exhibition featuring amateurs and professionals of both genders, and across generations, playing Holes 10 through 13 of Shinnecock Hills, site of the 118th U.S. Open Championship, June 14 through 17. The 4:45 p.m. EDT shotgun-start event will be open to all ticketed fans attending Tuesday’s U.S. Open practice round. Various U.S. Open tickets can be purchased on-site. Juniors 18 and under can enter the championship for free all week with a ticketed adult, and active military enter free Monday through Wednesday.
2017 USGA champions who are participating in the event include: Frankie Capan (U.S. Amateur Four-Ball champion), Alice Chen (U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball champion), Kelsey Chugg (U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion), Noah Goodwin (U.S. Junior Amateur champion), Sean Knapp (U.S. Senior Amateur champion), Judith Kyrinis (U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur champion), Matt Parziale (U.S. Mid-Amateur champion), Kenny Perry (U.S. Senior Open champion), Doc Redman (U.S. Amateur champion), Sophia Schubert (U.S. Women’s Amateur champion), Taylor Totland (U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball champion) and Ben Wong (U.S. Amateur Four-Ball champion).
2017 USGA champions will be paired as noted below in a shotgun start:
4:45 p.m. (hole #10) – Alice Chen/Kenny Perry; Noah Goodwin/Sean Knapp
4:47 p.m. (hole #12) – Frankie Capan/Taylor Totland; Judith Kyrinis/Matt Parziale
4:45 p.m. (hole #13) – Kelsey Chugg/Doc Redman; Sophia Schubert/Ben Wong
Prior to defense of his title, 2017 U.S. Open champion Brooks Koepka will be on-site at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club to welcome all of the champions and recognize them for their accomplishments. >
Eight-time USGA champion Jack Nicklaus will serve as the honorary starter for the exhibition. Following the event, the champions will be honored with a reception inside the historic Shinnecock Hills clubhouse.
