“The Curtis Cup and Walker Cup represent the very best of amateur golf, and these host sites emphasize our commitment to honoring the game’s history while inspiring its future,” said John Bodenhamer, USGA chief championships officer. “These iconic venues will provide truly exceptional stages, and we're proud to partner with them in the years ahead.”
The USGA announced today that several of golf’s most storied stages are set to welcome Curtis Cup and Walker Cup Matches. National Golf Links of America will host the 2040 Walker Cup, Cypress Point Club will host the 2042 Curtis Cup and 2048 Walker Cup, and Seminole Golf Club will host the 2046 Curtis Cup and 2052 Walker Cup.
National Golf Links of America, in Southampton, N.Y., which opened in 1909, was designed by renowned golf course architect C.B. Macdonald, who guided the course’s development over its first 30 years. Macdonald’s tenure included the inaugural Walker Cup Match in 1922. National Golf Links of America was the home club of George Herbert Walker, USGA president in 1920 when the event was conceived, and the man who donated the trophy. After a 91-year hiatus, the Walker Cup returned to its birthplace for its 44th playing in 2013, where the USA won 19-7. The club will also host the 2030 Curtis Cup and will become just the fourth club to host both the Curtis Cup and Walker Cup.
“The National Golf Links of America welcomes the USGA and the R&A to host the most prestigious events in amateur golf,” said Michael McBride, president of National Golf Links of America. “We look forward to the best amateurs from the United States, Great Britain, and Ireland competing on one of golf's most historic venues.”
Cypress Point Club, in Pebble Beach, Calif., most recently hosted the 50th Walker Cup last September, in which the USA dominated Sunday singles, going 8-1-1 en route to a 17-9 victory. The course was designed by Alister MacKenzie in collaboration with Robert Hunter and opened for play in 1929. In addition to the 2025 and 1981 Walker Cups, the club hosted “The Match,” a famous 1956 four-ball competition between professionals Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson and amateurs Ken Venturi and Harvie Ward, and was one of three courses used for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am for more than 40 years.
“The 50th Walker Cup was a dream come true for the world of amateur golf and Cypress Point alike,” said Peter Barker, past president of Cypress Point and chair of the 50th Walker Cup. “It only makes sense to continue sharing this treasure with a third Walker Cup and, especially a Curtis Cup, as our club was founded by a women’s amateur golf legend in the great Marion Hollins.”
Seminole Golf Club, in Juno Beach, Fla., hosted the 46th Walker Cup in 2021, in which the USA narrowly defeated GB&I, 14-12, to win its third consecutive Match. The course was designed by Donald Ross and opened for play in 1929. The course’s routing encompasses two dune ridges, one that peaks to the west and another along the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Members have included U.S. presidents, business and industry leaders and golf elites. Ben Hogan, a four-time U.S. Open champion, practiced and played there, while Henry Picard, who won two major professional titles, served as club professional for 26 years.
“Seminole Golf Club is honored to host future Curtis Cup and Walker Cup Matches," said Jimmy Dunne, president of Seminole Golf Club. "These competitions represent the very best of amateur golf, and we take great pride in providing a setting that embodies the history, traditions and spirit of the game while welcoming the world’s top amateur players.”
The 44th Curtis Cup Match will be played at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif., on June 12-14. The GB&I Team won the 2024 Curtis Cup Match at Sunningdale Golf Club, in England, for the first time since 2016. The USA leads the overall series, 31-9-3. The Curtis Cup features eight amateur female golfers from the USA against a similar group from Great Britain & Ireland.
The 51st Walker Cup Match will be played at Lahinch Golf Club in the Republic of Ireland, on Sept. 5-6, 2026. Beginning this year, the Walker Cup will be played in even-numbered years to avoid conflicts with the World Amateur Team Championships. The Match is played over two days with 18 singles matches and eight foursomes (alternate-shot) matches.
